Hop a helicopter to your next spa day? On Catalina Island, absolutely
Here’s a new twist on where to get a relaxing massage: Santa Catalina Island Co. will deliver you to the island’s day spa in Avalon via helicopter.
Visitors who don’t have time for an overnight trip can take advantage of the Tower Suite at Island Spa Catalina for Two.
The ride from Long Beach takes less than 20 minutes each way and lands at Pebbly Beach in Avalon. The flight offers a bird’s-eye-view of the island, flying over sites such as the Casino Building, Descanso Beach and the island’s hilly profile.
From there, it’s on to the day spa in the historic El Encanto building at 163 Crescent Ave., which opened last November. It has nine treatment rooms, an outdoor soaking pool and a vista deck.
The fly-and-spa midweek package starts at $378 per person and is based on treatments for two in a private suite at the spa. Each person receives a $150 spa credit to use toward a Seaweed Surrender detox wrap or a 25-minute Catnap on a warm sand table.
If you want to skip the spa and have a beach day instead, you can be whisked to the Descanso Beach Club, hang out in a private cabana and sip smoothies while listening to live music. It also starts at $378 per person.
