I’ll take ‘Arctic cruise with Alex Trebek for $5,595,’ please
If you have questions for “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, ask away during a 12-day cruise in the Canadian Arctic that sets sail in August.
The 74-year-old TV game show host will be aboard the Ocean Endeavour for an Arctic Explorer 2015 trip leaving Aug. 9. It travels to the Northwest Passage, Prince Leopold Island, the fiords of Baffin Island and the east coast of Greenland.
Trebek, who is from Canada and takes an interest in travel and geography, has never been to Canada’s northern reaches. He has been connected with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and is a winner of the organization’s Gold Medal for his contribution to geographic education and geography.
(Travel writer Paul Theroux recently won a royal medal for geography from Britain’s Royal Geographical Society.)
Trebek will be just like the other 198 passengers on board: zipping around the astonishing Arctic landscape in Zodiac boats; eating in the dining room; and watching out for polar bears, walruses and musk ox.
No word yet on whether “Jeopardy!” will be played on board.
Besides Trebek, the journey will bring along geologist Peter Croal, cultural expert Kathleen Merritt, artist Andrew Qappik and naturalist Stephen Smith.
Rates start at $5,595 per person, based on double occupancy. International airfare is extra.
