Get the most out of your South Bay bike ride, including taco Tuesday tips
Beach City Bike Tours believes that there can be more to South Bay cycle rides than pingy bike bells and sunshine.
Owner/guide Kevin Wilkerson offers custom tours covering Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, from King Harbor to El Porto and back.
Among the highlights:
- Movie and TV locations. The biggest of these is the “90210 house,” which was the beach house used for “Beverly Hills 90210.” Wilkerson will also point out locations where parts of “Tequila Sunrise,” “Blow” and “2012” were filmed.
- The history of the area, including the old Biltmore Hotel location in Hermosa Beach, a top spot for celebrities and politicians in the ‘20s
- Where to find, in the tour guide’s estimation, the best taco Tuesday, the finest burgers and the best cocktails. Wilkerson can even set up wine tasting tours.
- Dates and locations of summer events, including free summer concerts, fairs and holiday fireworks.
Wilkerson will extend tours up to Playa del Rey, Marina del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica, and adjust starting points to rider locations.
The price: $25 per hour for a group of up to four riders. Larger groups are slightly more per hour. Participants must provide their own bikes.
