8 Pokemon hangouts in San Diego during Comic-Con
In a bumping of two pop-culture behemoths, Comic-Con International arrives in San Diego just as the Pokémon craze seems to be peaking, meaning herds of nerds will be hitting the streets. According to the San Diego Tourism Authority, here are eight places where Pokémon fans can get the most out of the experience:
The Gaslamp Quarter and East Village in downtown San Diego are bound to be a Pokehub for Pokémon gamers, considering proximity to the convention center.
Balboa Park has been a hot spot for Pokestop. If you have extra time, hang around for Balboa Park After Dark, which features food trucks and entertainment.
The former naval training center, now known as Liberty Station, is fertile ground for the likes of Aerodactyl and Rhyhorn, in this hub for shopping and dining.
Aquatic creatures such as Tentacool and Magikarp might be found at Coronado, accessible via ferry from downtown San Diego.
Players can deal with fireballs, lightning, shock waves and ice at the new LEGO® Ninjago® World featuring a Ninjago interactive ride.
Gamers can hoof it along San Diego’s downtown Embarcadero. Pokestops can be found aboard the ships at the USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
The neighborhood of North Park is also considered a hot spot for Pokestops. Hunters will want to travel along 30th Street, especially from Upas Street to El Cajon Boulevard, the tourism agency says.
Freshly made tortillas and the sounds of mariachi are the perfect lure for gamers eager to try the authentic Mexican fare in Old Town San Diego, the birthplace of California.
