Turn your 2017 New Year wishes into art at First Friday Las Vegas
Care to share your wishes for 2017 with the whole world? Then head to downtown Las Vegas this Friday.
January’s First Friday, a free monthly cultural event that’s becoming more and more popular in the city’s arts district, will give visitors a chance participate in an activity called “Step Into the Future.” Using shoes provided at the site, you can stamp your footprints onto a huge canvas and then write your new year hopes.
The festivities run from 5 to 11 p.m. and span a 16-block area north of Charleston Boulevard in downtown Las Vegas’ expanding arts district.
Many galleries stay open late for the event, as do the Arts Factory and Art Square, in which dozens of professional artists sell their work, ranging from jewelry-making to photography. More than 30 artisan vendors will be serving food and drink at the event too.
January’s featured street artist, Lake Paints, invites guests to watch as he uses cans of spray paint to create a mural on the wall of the Mission Linen Supply building along Coolidge Street.
Along the same street, you can practice your dance steps with Epyk Dance Department, which will provide instruction in five routines.
Music will be provided throughout the evening too, with performers DeBlanc Music from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Joey Micelli from 8 to 8:45 p.m. and Teej from 9 to 9:45 p.m.
