Free hotel rooms in Cuzco for Machu Picchu trekkers with this Peru outfitter
Mountain Lodges of Peru turns 10 years old this year and offers trekkers this anniversary gift: two free nights in a hotel when you reserve a hiking trip to Machu Picchu.
The deal: Travel + Leisure readers selected Mountain Lodges as one of the best tour operators in the world (it ranked No. 4). This room deal applies to popular Machu Picchu treks along the Salkantay route (starts at $3,240 per person for seven days) or the Lares Valley route (starts at $2,400 for five days) on selected dates.
Trekkers who sign up receive two free nights — one pre-trip, one-post-trip — at El Mercado in Cuzco, the stepping off point for treks to explore the ancient Inca landmark. It’s a high-altitude city where visitors often stay extra nights to get acclimated to thin air.
When: The deal applies to trip departures between Nov. 1 and Dec. 10, and between March 1 and 31.
Details: Rooms at El Mercado cost $199 a night, so the savings on this deal are good. On these trips, trekkers stay at luxury lodges along the way. All meals, guides, ground transportation and admission fees to attractions are included; airfare is extra.
