Get a balcony room for the price of an inside cabin with this Cunard cruise deal
If you’re already in cruise-planning mode for the new year, Cunard has a cool upgrade offer. For a limited time, you can snag a balcony room for the price of an inside cabin on selected sailings on all three ships in the luxury line.
The deal: Upgrades on Us applies to certain 2017 and 2018 cruises, including transatlantic crossings and sailings in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S. East Coast and Canada. It’s also good on theme trips such as a World Space Week cruise from New York City to Southampton, England, leaving Oct. 6.
Book a standard inside room (category IA) and you’ll be upgraded to a balcony room (category BZ). (There are less expensive inside cabins, but they don’t qualify for the deal.)
Cunard also takes half off the cost of your cruise deposit, and covers gratuities of $11.50 to $13.50 daily for passengers who have previously sailed with the line.
When: The offer is good for bookings made through Feb. 28 and based on availability.
Details: I checked availability online and found a seven-night crossing from New York City to Southampton, leaving July 28 on the recently refurbished Queen Mary 2.
Price for a balcony room (in category BZ) starts at $2,551 per person, excluding tax. The deal knocks that price down to starting price for inside cabins (in category IA) of $1,841 per person.
