Cruise Critic editors select Carnival Vista as 2016’s best new cruise ship; Seabourn, best luxury line
Carnival Vista, Disney Cruise Line and Seabourn received top honors in Cruise Critic’s 2016 Editors Picks Awards. For the last nine years, editors at the cruise-centric website have shared their favorites with readers.
Carnival Vista, the largest ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, was named best new cruise ship of 2016. The ship sailed its first itinerary in Europe and will return to New York City for an official naming ceremony Nov. 4.
The ship, which holds 3,934 passengers, was singled out for its water park, on-board brewery and 14 restaurants, according to a Cruise Critic release Wednesday.
Carnival also took the top spot for best value among ocean-going lines.

Other winners include:
—Seabourn as best luxury cruise line for “impeccable service, creative itineraries and sophisticated touches,” the release says;
—Disney Cruise Line, for best dining and best for families (no surprise there);
—AmaWaterways, for best river cruise line, and Viking River Cruises for best itineraries;
—Royal Caribbean International picked up best inside cabins and best suites; and
—Princess Cruises was lauded for best shore excursions and best for romance (after all, its ship was the original “Love Boat” of TV fame).
