California: $5 artisan beers, live jazz and funk at Squaw Valley festival
The Village at Squaw Valley will rock with big-name soulful musicians as part of the 15th Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest this month.
The Aug. 13-14 fest at the ski resort in Olympic Valley will include nearly three dozen breweries from around California and the West, plus a couple from abroad.
And it’s a good deal: $5 gets you in, and another $5 gets you 16-ounce beers.
Musical headliners at this Lake Tahoe-area gathering include Southern rock-soul musician Marc Broussard, the Main Squeeze, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Eli Paperboy Reed, and the Polyrhythmics.
Festival-goers are promised a top lineup of beer and music, with all proceeds from the event benefiting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Last year’s festival raised more than $20,000 for the local animal shelter.
The festival runs from 2. to 8 p.m. both days; there’s a $5 entry donation for entry each day.
Breweries participating in the festival include 101 North Brewing Co., Alaskan Brewing Co., Bear Republic Brewing Co., Carlsberg, Deschutes Brewery, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Gordon Biersch/Wildcide Hard Cider, Kostrizter, Kronenbourg Brewery, Mad River Brewing Company, Mendocino Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing Company, New Glory Craft Brewery, Out of Bounds Brewery, Ruhstaller, Six Rivers Brewery, Tahoe Mountain Brewery Co., Trumer Pils, and Yolo Brewing Company.
Additional breweries are expected to be added too.
