Lego Friends rooms come to the Legoland Hotel. But how about a new castle hotel too?
Can Southern California theme parks stand another castle? Legoland California Resort hopes so.
The theme park resort announced Tuesday that it will add Lego Friends rooms featuring the Heartland City gang to its existing hotel and hopes to build a second hotel on the site too.
Legoland wants to built a three-story, 250-room (the same size as the Legoland Hotel) castle-themed hotel with a restaurant and gift shop in the parking lot west of the current hotel, spokeswoman Jule Estrada said via email.
The resort has applied with Carlsbad’s planning division for permission to begin the project, with hopes of opening in 2018.
In the meantime, on Thursday it’s rolling out 11 rooms and one suite featuring Emma, Mia, Andrea, Stephanie and Olivia. It goes along with the Friends Heartlake City land that opened at the park last year.
Room highlights include a Friends Tree House for kids and the Heartlake City Stables theme for parents. Of course, there are Lego bricks, games and a TV in rooms too.
Now you can choose from four themes -- Friends, pirate, adventure and kingdom -- when you book your stay. Rooms start at $370 a night through Memorial Day.
