Don’t miss your flight: Here are the best ways to dodge traffic at LAX this holiday weekend
Getaway Friday and Labor Day Monday will be the busiest days at Los Angeles International Airport this holiday weekend when a record 835,000 fliers are expected.
Airport officials on Wednesday said they expect a 7% increase in LAX travelers over last year, which means more than 200,000 people a day will file through the airport over the four-day travel period.
Auto traffic, too, is expected to rise, with more than 310,600 vehicles predicted to drive through the airport’s Central Terminal Area this weekend.
LAX suggests taking a shuttle van, bus, Metro Rail Green Line, taxis, limousines or the FlyAway bus, which provides service to and from Hollywood, Santa Monica, Union Station, Van Nuys and Westwood.
The FlyAway bus, which recently changed its Santa Monica stop to 2nd Street just north of Colorado Boulevard, costs $8 to $10 for one-way fares.
And don’t forget that you can park for free (without leaving your car) at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot at 96th Street and Vicksburg Avenue.
Nationwide, 35.5 million Americans will be traveling over Labor Day weekend, most by driving, according to AAA and IHS Global Insight.
