Some Los Angeles Galaxy fans will have more to cheer about when the soccer team takes on the New York City Football Club on Aug. 23 in Carson.

The first 12,000 who turn out to watch the match at the StubHub Center will receive Alaska Airlines vouchers for up to two people that take half off selected airfares to Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta.

Here’s how it works: Each voucher is good for two passengers, so it’s like a two-for-one deal.

You may use it for flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Cabo San Lucas (CSL) or flights from John Wayne Airport in Orange County (SNA) to Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta (PVR).

If you decide to go, you must travel from LAX between Sept. 8 and Nov. 18; and from Orange County between Oct. 8 and Nov. 18.

And here’s a big caveat: You have to book your tickets no later than 11:59 p.m. local time Aug. 26.

So start thinking now about a fall getaway to Mexico -- and make sure you get a good spot in line. The center at 18400 Avalon Blvd. in Carson holds up to 27,000 fans.
