Best cities in the world for shopping? Hey Los Angeles, you’re No. 3
Attention shoppers! If part of your travel fun involves stylish purchases, here are 25 cities — New York City is tops and Los Angeles takes the No. 3 spot — worthy of pulling out your wallet.
That’s the word from Expedia, which Wednesday released a ranking of the best shopping cities in the world.
The online travel retailer looked at several criteria, including best value for money (based on the cost of a pair of Levi’s 501 jeans, Nike running shoes and a transit ride), friendliness and how many tourists came to visit.
L.A. received high marks for value and friendliness but showed low numbers of international visitors who stayed overnight (5.2 million) compared with other cities.
The city recently announced that it received a record 45.5-million tourists in 2015 and 6.7 million of them were international visitors.
By comparison, New York City welcomed about 12.2 million international visitors who spent the night, according to Expedia’s data.
The good news for shoppers is that no matter what continent you visit this year, you’ll likely be near one of these cities. Check out “The World’s 25 Best Shopping Cities” by Expedia for details about the selections.
