USC’s Claude Pelon out, Steven Mitchell unlikely to play against Notre Dame
USC interim coach Clay Helton announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Claude Pelon would be sidelined Saturday against Notre Dame.
Pelon, a senior, suffered a knee injury against Washington last Thursday.
Helton also said that receiver Steven Mitchell, who suffered an ankle injury against the Huskies, “does not look great” for Saturday’s game.
Mitchell, a third-year sophomore, has caught 15 passes for 129 yards and four touchdowns.
Junior receiver Darreus Rogers, who was sidelined against Washington, has resumed practicing. “He looked good today, very promising to be able to play on Saturday,” Helton said.
Rogers has caught seven passes for 80 yards.
Starting center Max Tuerk suffered a a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee against Washington and will be sidelined for the season.
