Watch Ronda Rousey’s family and friends react to her knockout by Holly Holm
One woman shields her eyes and turns away from the Octagon. The man sitting next to her leans back in his seat and gets still as the raucous UFC 193 arena in Australia turns into a madhouse.
Unbeaten women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been knocked out by challenger Holly Holm. The people are Rousey’s friends and family, and the shock is as real as it gets.
In a preview of the UFC video “The Thrill and the Agony,” released Thursday, the family members and friends of both fighters are shown during and after the fight.
The reactions from the winning side are largely what you’d expect
Holm’s group, led by her husband, Jeff Kirkpatrick, and father, Roger Holm, jump up and down, joining in with the arena crowd of 56,214 in celebrating the upset of Rousey, who had been heavily favored.
“You always had a gut feeling. There’s a lot of people who did,” Roger Holm said after the fight. “When you feel good about it and it happens, you jump pretty high.”
For now, it’ll cost you $59.95 to purchase a replay of the fight, but watching the fighters’ families will probably give you a good idea of what the moment will be like.
