UCLA to play Mexico’s U-17 team in soccer friendly
UCLA men’s soccer team will play host to Mexico’s U-17 squad in an exhibition Aug. 18 on the Bruins’ North Athletic Field.
The 5 p.m. friendly will be the first of two preseason matches for UCLA, which reached the College Cup final last season. The Bruins will play the University of San Francisco on Aug. 22 in its other preseason game.
UCLA, which returns seven of its top 10 scorers from 2014, will open its regular season Aug. 29 against New Mexico at Drake Stadium.
Mexico’s U-17 team won its sixth CONCACAF championship in March and will be playing UCLA in preparation for October’s U-17 World Cup in Chile.
The Mexican team also will play friendlies against the Ventura County Fusion on Aug. 20 and Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 22.
