Eli Manning or Tony Romo: Who is the better quarterback? [Poll]

Eli Manning and Tony Romo are facing off Wednesday night as the New York Giants play the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the NFL season.

The two quarterbacks are the faces of their respective franchises, so naturally they are getting the bulk of the attention leading up to the game. And, of course, a lot of that attention is the form of a debate as to which of the two NFL East rivals is the better player.

So let’s jump right in with the comparisons, starting with the most obvious — Super Bowl rings. Manning has won two with the Giants, including one earlier this year; Romo has none. In fact, the Cowboys quarterback only has one playoff victory in four postseason games in his six years as the starter in Dallas.

Statistically, however, Romo has the edge over Manning in several categories over their careers — winning percentage (61.0%-58.0%), completion percentage (64.5%-58.4%), yards per attempt (8.0-7.0), quarterback rating (96.9-82.1), touchdowns per start (1.9-1.6) and interceptions per start (0.96-1.08).

But head to head, Manning has led the Giants past Romo and the Cowboys eight out of 13 times, including five of the last six meetings (Romo was knocked out of the game early during one of the Cowboys’ losses).

So who do you think is better quarterback? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did.
