Remembering Prince: The time he crushed the Super Bowl halftime show [Video]
It's hard to think about sports at the moment.
For those of us who grew up with the music of Prince, the news of his death Thursday at age 57 comes as a shock.
Here's a look back at one time the legendary artist did cross paths with the sporting world, back on Feb. 4, 2007, when he played the halftime show for Super Bowl XLI.

Although he played as many covers as he did his own songs during the 12-minute mini-concert, Prince put on what many consider to be one of the best halftime shows in Super Bowl history -- particularly his version of "Purple Rain" performed in the pouring rain (and on a giant stage in the shape of the symbol that was once his legal name).
He was a giant star and a musical genius, and he will be missed.
