NFL stadium could boost L.A.’s Olympic bid
The private committee bidding to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles believes the arrival of one -- and perhaps two -- NFL teams will bolster its chances.
LA 2024 officials said Wednesday they are “thrilled to welcome” the construction of a $2-billion-plus, state-of-the-art football stadium in Inglewood.
“The new NFL stadium represents an opportunity to add to the array of high-quality venues we already have in our Games plan,” committee chairman Casey Wasserman said in a statement.

NFL owners voted Tuesday to allow the St. Louis Rams to return to Southern California. The team will begin play in a temporary home next fall with its permanent venue scheduled for completion in 2019.
LA 2024’s initial bid has sought to control the high cost of the Games through use of existing venues such as Staples Center, Pauley Pavilion and StubHub Center.
A revamped Coliseum would serve as the main Olympic stadium, but that could change with this week’s developments.
