Watch two Marlins slide into third base at the same time
In a scene that pretty much sums up their entire, miserable season, two Miami Marlins slid into third base at the same time during their 4-3 loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
With runners at the corners and no outs in the sixth inning, Adeiny Hechavarria hit a grounder to Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. Logan Morrison, the runner at third, broke for home, and Zimmerman threw to the plate. Morrison, caught in a rundown, ran back to third while being chased by Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos. Meanwhile. Donovan Solano, the runner on first, was rounding second and heading to third.
Morrison ran all the way back to third and dived in head first, just as Solano slid in feet first. Nationals third baseman Ian Desmond tagged Morrison out, and came within inches of tagging Solano out too.
It’s pretty funny, and you can watch it all in the video above.
