Dennis Rodman has done some crazy things in his day, but if reports coming out of North Korea are true, he may have just topped them all.

Rodman, who is in North Korea as part of an HBO documentary on “basketball diplomacy,” watched a basketball game in Pyongyang with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, on Thursday. According to a spokesman for the film crew, Rodman told Kim that “You have a friend for life.”

Rodman and Kim talked as they watched players from North Korea and the U.S. play on mixed teams, Alex Detrick, a spokesman for the New York-based VICE media company, told the Associated Press.

Kim is a diehard basketball fan and was a huge fan of the 1990s Chicago Bulls, of which Rodman was a key member. Rodman is the most high-profile American to meet with the North Korean leader since Kim took power in 2011. Just two weeks ago, North Korea conducted a nuclear test in defiance of the U.S. and other world powers.

Rodman and members of the film crew also asked Kim to visit the U.S.

If Kim visits, and relations between the U.S. and North Korea improve, will Rodman win the Nobel Peace Prize? Now that would be crazy.
