BCS and College Football Playoff Executive Director Bill Hancock said Wednesday the process for naming a new football selection committee by the end of this year is “right on schedule.”

The selection committee will pick the participants in the four-team playoff that will replace the Bowl Championship Series after this season.

“We have several remaining issues to be discussed with potential members (time commitment, travel
requirements, etc.) and there is still additional vetting to be done,” Hancock said. “Once that
process is complete, we look forward to sharing the names of those who will serve.”

This is the 16th and final year of the BCS, which has used polls and computers to determine the top two teams each year. The final BCS title game will be played Jan. 6 at the Rose Bowl.

Next season, the Rose and Sugar bowls will host the two semifinal games in the playoff. The championship game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The College Football Playoff is expected to name the 2016 and ’17 title game sites when commissioners meet Nov. 11. In the mix for bids are Tampa, Fla., New Orleans and Glendale, Ariz.
