Clippers work out point guards in preparation for NBA draft
Even as the Clippers have put a lot of effort into finding a new coach, they have been working out players for the NBA draft on June 27.
The Clippers, who have the 25th pick in the first round, worked out six point guards Wednesday.
Keep in mind that All-Star point guard Chris Paul is a free agent with whom the Clippers can’t begin to negotiate a contract until July 1. The Clippers are expected to offer him a maximum deal of five years worth $107.3 million.
Then if Paul signs, as expected, the Clippers probably will trade backup point guard Eric Bledsoe.
That’s why the Clippers are looking at so many point guards.
They worked out Baylor’s Pierre Jackson, who is 5 feet 10 and 175 pounds, South Dakota State’s Nate Wolters (6-5, 196 pounds), Miami’s Shane Larkin (5-11, 171), Virginia Tech’s Erick Green (6-3, 178), Murray State’s Isaiah Canaan (6-0, 188) and Texas’ Myck Kabongo (6-1, 180).
