Report: Bills cut quarterback Matt Leinart
Well, that was quick.
The Buffalo Bills cut quarterback Matt Leinart on Friday, according to the Associated Press, which cites an unnamed person familiar with the move.
The move comes just five days after Buffalo signed the former Heisman Trophy winner from USC.
Leinart, 30, struggled in an exhibition game against Detroit on Thursday, completing three of 10 passes for 11 yards with two interceptions.
After the game, Leinart said: “I will not sit here and make excuses for myself. I could have played better, but you just move on.... So yeah, it’s tough, but I was thankful to be here and you know we’ll see what happens. Obviously, after that performance, you can’t feel too good.”
The 10th overall pick by Arizona in 2006, Leinart bounced from the Cardinals to Houston to Oakland to Buffalo over the last seven years.
