Sources: Anquan Boldin to be traded to 49ers from Ravens
Anquan Boldin was a key reason San Francisco lost the Super Bowl to Baltimore last month. He led the Ravens with six catches for 104 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Flacco to help deal the 49ers a 34-31 loss.
Someone’s going to feel a bit sheepish when he faces his new teammates for the first time.
In an apparent salary cap move, Boldin has been traded from the Ravens to the 49ers for a sixth-round draft pick in 2013 pending a physical, multiple sources are reporting. Boldin is currently on an African mission.
The Ravens had asked the 10-year veteran, who made three Pro Bowls with the Arizona Cardinals and has spent the last three seasons in Baltimore, to take a $2-million pay cut from his $6-million base salary. When he refused last week, the team was ready to cut him outright.
So at least they got something for him, although a mere sixth-round pick for a guy who caught 65 passes for 921 yards and four touchdowns last year and has 10,165 yards and 58 touchdowns in his career?
A side note: Boldin will be switching one Harbaugh for another in head coaches. The Ravens are coached by John Harbaugh, who just beat his little brother, San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh, in the Super Bowl.
