Will the Carolina Panthers meet the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 50?

The two teams have been installed along with the Arizona Cardinals as the favorites by Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Panthers (15-1), Patriots (12-4) and Cardinals (13-3) are each listed at 9-2 odds to win the NFL championship game, which will be played Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

The Denver Broncos (12-4) and Seattle Seahawks (10-6) are listed at 5-1 odds to win the title, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6) are 8-1. It falls from there to the Cincinnati Bengals (12-4) at 20-1 and the Kansas City Chiefs (11-5) at 25-1. The Minnesota Vikings (11-5) and Green Bay Packers (10-6) are 30-1 underdogs, while the long shots would be the Washington Redskins (9-7) at 40-1 and the Houston Texans (9-7) at 60-1.

While the Patriots won their first 10 games this season, the Panthers opened up 14-0 before losing to Atlanta.

Carolina is the seventh team to win at least 15 games in a 16-game regular season. The first teams to finish 15-1, the 1984 San Francisco 49ers and the 1985 Chicago Bears, won the Super Bowl. Since then, no team winning 15 or more games has been that fortunate.

That would be the 1998 Minnesota Vikings (15-1), who lost in the NFC championship game, the 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers (15-1), who lost in the AFC championship game, the 2007 New England Patriots (16-0), who lost in the Super Bowl, and the 2011 Green Bay Packers (15-1), who lost in the NFC divisional round.
