Back in 2018, when Odell Beckham Jr. played for the New York Giants, the Rams — who have not been shy about making blockbuster moves — made inquiries about trading for the star receiver.

Beckham was released Friday by the Cleveland Browns. Before practice, Rams coach Sean McVay was asked if the Rams had interest in adding him to the roster.

“We’re not going to get into those kinds of things,” McVay said.

Would he want the Rams to make an inquiry?

“I would never say never on anything like that,” McVay said. “So, that’s where I’ll leave that.”

The Rams on Tuesday released receiver DeSean Jackson, who had asked to be traded because of limited opportunities in the Rams’ first seven games. Jackson caught a 75-yard touchdown pass against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rams nose tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day will have surgery for a chest muscle injury and will be out indefinitely, coach Sean McVay says.

“He wanted some more opportunities, which I think he wasn’t wrong to feel that way, and we felt it was going to be in the best interest.

“But I love DeSean, I got tremendous respect for the resumé, for the body of work that he’s established, and unfortunately that didn’t work out the way that I think either of us had hoped or anticipated.”
