James Worthy joining Time Warner Cable’s Lakers coverage team
As usual, “Big Game” James Worthy will be analyzing plenty of big games this season.
He’ll just be doing it somewhere new starting next month.
Time Warner Cable announced Wednesday that the former Lakers great will join its coverage team as the main studio analyst for Lakers games.
Chris McGee will serve as a studio anchor, Dave Miller will work as a studio analyst, commentator and reporter, and Mike Trudell will be the sideline reporter for all Lakers telecasts that are moving to Time Warner this season for the first time.
“As a life-long Laker, I understand how important the Los Angeles Lakers are to Southern California,” Worthy said in a statement. “I’m honored that I’ll be able to speak directly to Lakers fans on Time Warner Cable SportsNet on a daily basis starting Oct. 1.”
Worthy, an NBA Hall of Famer who spent 12 seasons with the Lakers, had hosted pre- and post-game shows on KCAL-TV for the last three seasons.
Time Warner had previously announced that Stu Lantz and Bill Macdonald would call all Lakers games.
