Steve Nash’s soccer Showdown NYC to air Tuesday on cable channels

Lakers point guard Steve Nash averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 assists in 50 games this season.

Steve Nash held his sixth annual Steve Nash Foundation’s Showdown NYC, a charity soccer event benefiting underserved children, on June 26 at Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes will televise the event as one-hour specials (English/Spanish) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, including the full game and a behind-the-scenes look at the event.

Nash was joined on the soccer pitch by NBA players Joakim Noah and Marco Belinelli -- along with soccer stars Giuseppe Rossi, Mikel Alonso, Massimo Ambrosini, Sammy Ameobi, Emmerson Boyce, Stuart Holden, Sacha Kljestan, Oguchi Onyewu, Simone Sandri and Richie Williams.

Baron Davis attended but didn’t play.

Nash will host his first Showdown in Los Angeles on Sunday at Red Shield Community Center at 6:30 p.m., open to the public.

Both Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Deportes will also air similar Showdown LA specials at a later date.
