Phil Jackson celebrates 68th birthday
Phil Jackson celebrates his 68th birthday on Tuesday.
Happy Birthday @PhilJackson11!! I love you xoxo. (He is going to kill me for this). #Birthdaywishes — Jeanie Buss (@JeanieBuss) September 17, 2013
Jackson, who is engaged to Lakers owner/executive Jeanie Buss, has said repeatedly he has no intention to coach again in the NBA -- although he acknowledged to The Times over the summer that intentions can change.
Happy Birthday, @PhilJackson11! 13x champ.. 2 playing for the @NYKnicks, 11 coaching the @ChicagoBulls & @Lakers https://t.co/eXW0COc72A — NBA (@NBA) September 17, 2013
Jackson led the Lakers to five championships. He also earned six as head coach of the Chicago Bulls and two as a player for the New York Knicks.
The Lakers and Jackson discussed a reunion last year, after the team fired Mike Brown. It would have been Jackson’s third stint after leading the team over 1999-2004 and 2005-2011, but the team chose instead to hire Coach Mike D’Antoni.
