Much has been said about the Clippers’ decision to cover up the Lakers banners and retired jerseys in the rafters at Staples Center.

Whether it’s something that should have been done a long time ago or a disrespect to the Lakers, ultimately the Clippers stand by their oversized images of players like Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Matt Barnes obscuring the Lakers’ mementos of historic success.

On Thursday, Lakers Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson, whose jersey and championship banners are among the hidden, tweeted his support of the Clippers’ move.

Johnson also tweeted that he’ll be at opening night at Staples Center on Oct. 29 -- which happens to be a home game for the Lakers against the Clippers. Johnson’s retired No. 32 will be on full display.
