Lakers to wear short-sleeve jerseys in select games, report says
The Lakers will wear short-sleeve jerseys during select games this coming season, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com
The short-sleeve experiment began with the Golden State Warriors last season, with mixed results. Emerging star guard Stephen Curry called them “ugly” after a loss to the Chicago Bulls in March.
The Lakers’ summer-league squad in Las Vegas wore white short-sleeve jerseys in July. The team’s alternative jersey during the season will also be white.
Hoopsworld’s Steve Kyler recently wrote that most of the league will experiment with sleeved jerseys this season.
So new details on sleeved jerseys... 5 teams will add a sleeved jersey to their uniform options... 20 will wear them at least once. — Steve Kyler (@stevekylerNBA) August 4, 2013
According to NBA supplier Adidas, the short-sleeve jersey is 26% lighter than the standard tank top.
