Lakers leading the league in turnovers

The Lakers have been losing games since the season began in two major areas: turnovers and free throws. The Lakers (7-8) are now leading the league in turnovers per game at 17.2.

In their most recent loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, the Lakers turned the ball over 21 times. Kobe Bryant notched a triple-double with 40 points, 10 rebounds and 10 turnovers.

It’s a problem, one that can be naturally traced to the absence of Steve Nash.

Bryant is leading the team in turnovers with 4.1 a game. Dwight Howard is close behind at 3.2 while the remaining starters average a combined 6.7.

Given the team has the second-worst free-throw shooting percentage at 66.8%, the Lakers are finding it very easy to lose basketball games.

Unfortunately for the team, there may be no true answer until Nash gets back from a non-displaced leg fracture.
