Metta World Peace plans to behave in Las Vegas, kind of
Any time Metta World Peace travels to Las Vegas, hilarity ensues.
The Lakers’ eccentric forward posts pictures of his nightclub exploits on Twitter. An avid boxing fan, World Peace often makes trips to see fights in person instead of on pay-per-view. When the Lakers had their first day off of training camp last week, World Peace joked he’d drive there with friends and make “Hangover, Part 3.”
But when the Lakers play the Sacramento Kings on Friday at Las Vegas’ Thomas and Mack Center, World Peace vows he’ll stay on his best behavior.
“I’m really focused,” World Peace said after the Lakers’ 114-80 preseason loss Tuesday to the Utah Jazz at the Honda Center. “I had a lot of fun in July. I like to have fun in Vegas and tell my friends and text everybody I’m in Vegas. But as far as drinking, I won’t be doing any of that.”
Still, that doesn’t mean World Peace won’t have fun. He offered he will throw Lakers radio announcer John Ireland a party.
“If you really want me to do that, let me know,” World Peace said with a smile. “I will set it up for you. I want to see you throw up. That’s what I want to see.”
Ireland then joked that plenty of his colleagues at Time Warner Cable will likely join him for the Vegas trip.
“Let’s party,” World Peace said. “I’lll drink water and things like that. Then I want to see you all throw up.”
