Kobe Bryant frustrated by slow progress of recovery from knee injury
Kobe Bryant recently sat down with Kustoo.com to talk about his latest line of Nike signature shoes.
The Lakers’ All-Star guard gave a brief update on the knee injury that has kept him sidelined for months.
“It’s progressing slowly. It really tests my patience,” said Bryant. “There’s only so much you can do, so I find myself relegated to riding the bike.”
Bryant was injured on Dec. 17 in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies, fracturing the lateral tibial plateau of his left knee.
He’s played in just six games, missing the start of the season while he recovered from a torn Achilles’ tendon suffered in April.
“After the first few weeks [riding the bike], it’s cool -- you’re getting a good workout,” said Bryant. “Then third, fourth -- I need to do something else. I want to play. I want to run. I want to do something different, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
Bryant averaged 13.8 points and 6.3 assists a game during his brief stint. With a little more than a month left on the schedule, it’s unclear if he’ll make it back before the end of the season.
The Lakers (22-42) are currently tied at the bottom of the Western Conference with the Utah Jazz.
