Jordan Farmar injures his groin during practice
The Lakers just can’t avoid injuries.
On Monday, Lakers guard Jordan Farmar suffered a groin injury in practice.
Farmar had already missed 30 games with two hamstring injuries. He’ll be evaluated on Monday or Tuesday by Dr. Luga Podesta of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic to determine the severity of his strained, right groin.
Through 36 appearances, Farmar is averaging 10.4 points and 4.7 assists while shooting 43.0% from the field and 45.7% from three-point range.
Kendall Marshall will likely get more playing time should Farmar sit out for an extended period.
The Lakers have had a difficult year with Kobe Bryant (Achilles, knee) sitting out all but six games. Steve Nash managed just 10 appearances with knee, back and hamstring issues stemming from a nerve root irritation.
Other Lakers to miss time include Pau Gasol (groin, bronchitis), Jodie Meeks (ankle), Nick Young (knee), Chris Kaman (back), Xavier Henry (knee), Jordan Hill (knee, neck) and Steve Blake (elbow), among others. Blake was traded to the Golden State Warriors in February.
At 22-44, the Lakers are in 14th place in the Western Conference, a half-game ahead of the Utah Jazz (22-45).
