Forbes ranks Lakers as 31st-most valuable sports team
The Lakers are one of world’s 50 most valuable sports teams, but according to Forbes.com the franchise is not even in the top 30.
Soccer club Real Madrid ranked No. 1 overall with a value of $3.3 billion. The top three are all “futbol” teams (with Manchester United and Barcelona after Real Madrid).
The New York Yankees come in fourth with a value of $2.3 billion. The Dodgers are seventh at $1.615 billion.
The Lakers are behind multiple NFL teams, starting with the No. 5 Dallas Cowboys ($2.1 billion).
As far as the NBA, it’s not until 23rd when the New York Knicks hit the list ($1.1 billion).
Finally the Lakers come in at 31, tied with the Chicago Cubs and Toronto Maple Leafs -- each at $1 billion.
Second in the NBA may be impressive, but the Lakers are not especially high on the list when talking soccer, football and baseball.
