Dallas Mavericks cut former Laker Devin Ebanks
The Dallas Mavericks waived former Lakers small forward Devin Ebanks on Tuesday.
Originally drafted by the Lakers with the 43rd overall pick in 2010, Ebanks played three years with them, averaging 3.6 points a game.
Ebanks joined the Mavericks as a training-camp invite with little chance to make the team -- Dallas already had the maximum of 15 players under guaranteed contracts.
The Lakers had hoped the lanky, 6-foot-9, Ebanks would develop into a vital perimeter defender but he never quite proved to be a consistent presence.
Ebanks fell out of the rotation after a November 2012 arrest on suspicion of DUI. He later pleaded no contest and was suspended by the NBA for two games.
In three preseason games with the Mavericks, Ebanks averaged 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 10.4 minutes.
