Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss are engaged
Looks as if there may be a reason for a celebration in Lakerland after all.
Former Lakers Coach Phil Jackson is apparently engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Jeanie Buss, who is the executive vice president of business operations for the Lakers.
Buss tweeted Thursday evening:
She apparently wasn’t talking about one of Phil’s five championship rings that he got at the helm of the Lakers. Instead, she tweeted a photo of a gorgeous diamond ring adorning her hand.
Buss and Jackson have been dating since 2001. They became engaged over the New Year’s holiday, according to cbslocal.com.
Jackson, who has won 11 NBA championships as a coach, retired after the 2010-11 season. It appeared that he might return to coach the Lakers after Mike Brown was fired five games into the season, but the Lakers eventually chose Mike D’Antoni as Brown’s replacement.
