The Lakers have hit the road for a three-game trip, but Pau Gasol remains in Los Angeles trying to recover from a groin injury.

Gasol was declared out at least a week on Saturday after aggravating the injury in a Friday night loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.

On Monday night, Gasol posted a photo on Instagram, revealing he underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy to help accelerate the healing process.

The treatment involves drawing some of Gasol’s own blood. The platelets, which promote healing, are then filtered to concentrate them, then injected directly into the problem area.

Gasol has played in 44 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 17.0 points and 10.2 rebounds a game.

The Lakers have recently considered trading their former All-Star, possibly to the Phoenix Suns.

Gasol is in the final year of his contract. The Lakers have struggled most of the season with injury, dropping to 16-31 on the year.

The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 20.
