Drew Gooden fined $15,000 by NBA for flagrant foul on Nick Young
The NBA has fined Washington forward Drew Gooden $15,000 for a flagrant foul he committed Friday during the Wizards’ 117-107 victory over the Lakers at Staples Center.
Gooden was fined for “an unnecessary act” -- clamping the arm of Nick Young and “attempting to throw him to the floor,” according to the NBA.
The play occurred with 2 minutes 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Gooden was ejected with a flagrant type 2 foul. Young, who responded by pushing Gooden, was given a technical foul but was not ejected.
Jordan Hill, who came to Young’s aid and tangled a bit with Marcin Gortat, was also given a technical and ejected.
Gooden joined the Wizards (36-33) last month on a pair of 10-day contracts. The team recently signed him for the remainder of the season.
Through 11 appearances, Gooden is averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 rebounds a game.
