Lakers waive centers Dan Gadzuric, Eric Boateng
The Lakers waived two centers on Wednesday, cutting ties with Eric Boateng and veteran Dan Gadzuric.
Both were training-camp invites with long odds of making the roster.
The Lakers now have 17 players under contract. The league maximum to start the season is 15, which means at least two more will be cut. The Lakers must carry at least 13.
Currently the team has 11 guaranteed players: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Hill, Chris Kaman, Jodie Meeks, Nick Young, Jordan Farmar, Wesley Johnson and Robert Sacre.
The contracts of Shawne Williams and Elias Harris are guaranteed at $100,000 apiece -- giving each an edge to make it to opening night, Oct 29, against the Clippers.
That leaves Xavier Henry, Marcus Landry, Ryan Kelly and Darius Johnson-Odom as the players on the bubble.
Henry has made a strong impression through the preseason. Kelly is hoping to start practicing soon after rehabbing a foot injury.
