Pau Gasol discusses his TV favorites, including ‘Fringe’
Playing in the NBA doesn’t lend itself to regular television viewing.
Lakers forward Pau Gasol took some time after practice on Tuesday to talk TV.
“I’m watching ‘Fringe,’ ” said Gasol. “I’m in the second season.”
Playing 82 games a year, plus exhibitions and playoffs, Gasol doesn’t have much luck keeping up with shows airing weekly.
“The shows that are happening right now, you have to wait for a whole week to catch the next episode,” said Gasol. “I like to buy the DVD season and go through it. If I feel like watching another episode, I’ll watch the next episode. I don’t have to wait until next week.”
With such a heavy travel schedule, games nightly and busy days of practice, NBA players probably have a difficult time keeping up with their DVR viewing during the season.
Gasol admitted he hasn’t watched “Homeland” but said he’d probably give a look once the current season comes out on DVD.
“Now you have to wait for the second season to go on,” said Gasol. “I like to catch up on seasons.”
Gasol has a list in mind of programs to catch up on when he’s not playing basketball for the Lakers (or the Spanish national team).
“How about ‘Breaking Bad’?” asked Gasol, who also noted he’s on the sixth season of “Dexter.”
When it comes to the entire run of a show, “The Wire” is recommended viewing.
Gasol doesn’t watch “Modern Family,” missed out on “Arrested Development” but admitted to watching “Two and a Half Men” during the Charlie Sheen era.
