Lakers haven’t taken advantage of their schedule
The Lakers are now 6-6, tied with the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz as the seventh, eighth and ninth best teams in the Western Conference.
Naturally the team is evolving with the hiring of Coach Mike D’Antoni. Certainly the eventual return of Steve Nash (leg) will change the team significantly.
The concern is schedule.
The Lakers have played more home games than any other team in the league. It’s rare when a team nears the same winning percentage on the road as they do at home.
The Charlotte Bobcats are the only other team, like the Lakers, with just three games played on the road. Charlotte actually has a better record at 2-1 while the Lakers have yet to record a single victory.
Time will even it out but the Lakers have not taken advantage of a relatively light schedule.
Immediately following Thanksgiving, the Lakers will be tested on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks on back-to-back nights.
