Wrestlemania week begins on WWE Network
There were a lot of guffaws and criticism when WWE launched its WWE Network last month, mainly because of connectivity issues and problems accessing content. However, once those problems were corrected, there was only one thing left to say: The network is amazing, providing new shows and a plethora of classic footage for pro wrestling fans to enjoy, not just of WWE, but old fans of WCW, ECW and other defunct organizations.
In short, the WWE Network has become the very model of a modern major online network, and with this being WrestleMania week, WWE will be unveiling a host of new shows leading up to the pay-per-view this Sunday.
The best part of the week will come Saturday night, when they show their Hall of Fame induction ceremony live at 6 p.m. PT. This year’s inductees are: The Ultimate Warrior, Jake “the Snake” Roberts, Razor Ramon, Lita, Paul Bearer, Mr. T and Carlos Colon. And trust me when I say it will be worth watching just for The Ultimate Warrior’s speech alone. And, just like the Oscars, the ceremony will have its own red carpet show, which will start at 5 p.m.
Other highlights of WrestleMania week include:
A marathon of WrestleMania shows from Friday to Sunday, including past WrestleManias and WrestleMania rewinds, “Legends of WrestleMania” on Friday at 7 p.m. PT, in which wrestlers will look back at their favorite WrestleMania moments and there will be “WrestleMania Today” which will premiere on Thursday at 3 p.m. PT and will have live interviews from the WrestleMania Axxess fan fest in New Orleans.
This all leads up to WrestleMania 30, which takes place Sunday at 4 p.m. PT, and better end with Daniel Bryan winning the WWE title. And if you can’t wait until 4 p.m., there will be a two-hour pre-show that will break down the PPV (think of it as the WWE’s version of the Super Bowl pre-game show).
