Kings captain Dustin Brown continues to recover from hamstring injury
Kings captain Dustin Brown skated with the main group Wednesday for first time since he was injured and was the first player off the ice and not around later to talk about his progress.
That’s not a bad thing.
Brown had to leave the practice facility to attend to a family matter. The Browns are expecting their fourth child and the newest addition to the family was expected to arrive any moment Wednesday.
(His two oldest boys, remember, were responsible for one of the most charming visions with the Stanley Cup after the Kings won it in 2012. Jake and Mason blew bubbles with their straws, drinking chocolate milk out of the Cup).
Kings Coach Darryl Sutter said Brown’s injured hamstring “feels good.” He won’t be playing, however, in Friday’s exhibition game at Las Vegas. The Kings have their final exhibition game Saturday, also in Las Vegas.
“We’ll see how he does the next two days,” Sutter said. “He doesn’t feel it. It’s not bothering him at all. It’s not so much that. He hasn’t had any contact since June. We’ll just kind of gauge it.”
Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin, who was off the ice a couple of days because of an injured knee, tested it briefly and said the knee felt good. Muzzin is wearing braces on both knees.
“I did it to myself. I just bent down funny to keep the puck in and felt a weird pop,” he said. “It wasn’t as serious as I first thought. That’s the good news. I kind of tweaked it in the playoffs last year, too. Same knee. I just wanted to make sure it was good.”
