Cristiano Ronaldo tops Real Madrid roster for Dodger Stadium event
Former world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid tops the list of soccer stars expected to participate in the International Cup of Champions doubleheader at Dodger Stadium on Aug. 3.
The eight-team tournament, which will feature the Major League Soccer champion Galaxy and seven European powers, will also see Italian side Juventus and English Premier League team Everton play at Dodger Stadium.
In addition to Ronaldo, Real Madrid will bring longtime Spanish national team keeper Iker Casillas to Los Angeles and Brazilian Kaka, another former world player of the year.
Juventus will have Italian national team keeper Gianluigi Buffon and former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, while Everton will have U.S. national team keeper Tim Howard.
Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane are listed on the Galaxy roster for the tournament.
The tournament opens Saturday in Valencia, Spain, where A.C. Milan will meet Valencia. Other teams taking part include Chelsea of the EPL and Italy’s Inter Milan. The Galaxy and Real Madrid will meet one another in their first matches Aug. 1 in Phoenix.
