Angels hire Mark Langston as radio analyst

The Angels have hired Mark Langston as their new radio analyst, replacing Jose Mota.

Langston, who pitched eight of his 16 major league seasons for the Angels, will join Terry Smith in the radio booth. Victor Rojas and Mark Gubicza remain the television broadcast team.

Mota will become an analyst on the Angels’ Spanish-language television broadcasts. Angels spokesman Tim Mead, who confirmed the changes, said Fox Sports plans to increase its Spanish-language Angels broadcasts from 50 last year to about 75 this year.

Mota also will continue to work on pregame and postgame shows on the Fox broadcasts in English, Mead said.

Langston has done fill-in broadcast work for the Angels for several years.

Langston, 52, went 88-74 with a 3.97 earned-run average in eight seasons in Anaheim, with three All-Star Game appearances. In his first start with the Angels, in 1990, he threw the first seven innings of a combined no-hitter with Mike Witt.
