Cardinals’ Darnell Dockett tweets phone number to Katherine Webb
Beauty queen Katherine Webb was introduced to the nation during Monday night’s broadcast of the BCS championship game.
NFL player Darnell Dockett was apparently smitten and tweeted Webb his phone number, not realizing he also sent it out to all of Twitterverse. Webb’s boyfriend, who happens to be Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, sent out several retorts to Dockett but eventually ends up asking for a job.
Who says a blowout football game has to be boring?
With the Crimson Tide routing Notre Dame on the field, the TV cameras turned their focus to Webb, a former Miss Alabama USA, in the stands as often as possible. That prompted Dockett, a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals, to tweet out his phone number to Webb, along with an invitation to join him at Wingstop and the King of Diamonds strip club.
Dockett soon realized what he had done, deleted the post, tweeted an expletive and an explanation saying he meant to send Webb a direct message. He didn’t seem to mind the attention, judging from this tweet: “Y’all think I don’t know how to erase a DM? ... and y’all think I’m embarrassed ? ... y’all really don’t know me?”
The three-time Pro Bowler also posted a image of Webb sitting in the stands thinking, “This game is boring. Can’t wait to have wingstop with Dockett owwww.” His response: “Aye babe I know I know. @_KatherineWebb ill be there shortly!”
After the game, McCarron fired off a pair of good-natured tweets to Dockett: “@ddockett u better worry ab being in them playoffs, then going to king of diamonds homie.. #betterkeepdreaming like the rest of these dudes” and “@ddockett boy stop! U gotta better chance with them strippers then this way homie know that. better stop eating them wings and win. All love.”
But McCarron, knowing the Cardinals definitely could use some help at the quarterback position, couldn’t let an opportunity pass by, following up the last tweet with: “@ddockett and talk to them and tell them to get me and I will come help y’all!”
See, kids, social media really is a great networking tool.
