‘Dancing with the Stars’: Aly Raisman, Victor Ortiz to compete
A Mirror Ball trophy would be the perfect complement to three Olympic medals. And that could happen, because gymnast Aly Raisman, 18, who won three medals (two golds, one silver) at the London Olympics last summer, will compete on “Dancing with the Stars” this season.
Raisman, former figure skating champion Dorothy Hamill, boxer Victor Ortiz and NFL star Jacoby Jones will all compete this season on the show, which starts March 18.
Hamill, 56, won Olympic gold at the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics. Ortiz, 26, is a former welterweight champion. Jones, 28, whose participation was announced Sunday, scored two touchdowns for the Baltimore Ravens in this year’s Super Bowl.
Of course, a key part of any competitor’s chance of winning is which pro dancer they are paired with. Raisman will dance with Mark Ballas; Hamill with Tristan MacManus; Jones with Karina Smirnoff and Ortiz with Lindsay Arnold. You have to give the edge to Raisman with those pairings, considering Ballas is a two-time champion and won with athletes both times.
Also competing on the show this season (with pro partner): singer Wynonna Judd (Tony Dovolani), comedian D.L. Hughley (Cheryl Burke), reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump (Gleb Savchenko), comedian Andy Dick (Sharna Burgess), actress Zendaya Coleman (Val Chmerkovskiy), actor Ingo Rademacher (Kym Johnson) and singer Kellie Pickler (Derek Hough).
